Gist: Good friends are hard to find – in order to have good friends you have to be a good friend. The issue-
define a “Good Friend”!
Pr. 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Show me your Friends and I’ll show you your Future.
Pr. 21:20 “Precious treasure remains in the house of the wise, but the fool devours it.”

Our future depends on understanding the power of patience, knowledge, and wisdom.
Instant gratification soothes only for a moment and lays the groundwork for impatience.
21:23 -25 He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from troubles. “Proud,” “Haughty,”
“Scoffer,” are his names, who acts with insolent pride.   The desire of the sluggard puts him to death,
for his hands refuse to work.
We then find it harder to reason with each other and easier to be selfish instead of selfless. It’s harder to look
to the goodness we’re called to because we dwell on the hurts of the past. Someone, somewhere owes me.
We’re more apt to give in to temptation instead of trusting God at His Word.
22:3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.
It’s rarely seen as a “learning moment” when our emotions override our reason.
Jealousy destroys relationships, lust clouds our judgment, unrighteous anger overreacts, ignorance leads to
uninformed decisions. Pr. 19:3 A man’s own folly ruins his life but his heart rages against the Lord.
Pr. 22:1 A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, favor is better than silver and gold.
