Gist: The wages of sin is death, BUT the free gift of God is eternal life. That’s a big but! Paul continues
to stress the importance of being IN Christ versus in the flesh. Even though we are draped in flesh
bodily, we are filled with the Spirit to guard us inside.

8:1 With Jesus in us, there is no judicial sentence or judgment of forced state or action.
8:2 Living my life in Christ delivers me from the law of sin and death.
8:3 In our flesh the law condemns us, BUT in love here is what God did: 1 Sent His Son, 2 in the same
flesh that condemns us because of sin, and 3 sentenced that flesh to death. So that 4 God’s law would
be upheld and 5 His righteousness would be shown in us through the Spirit of Jesus.
